Fall Break!
Yeah! Fall break has finally arrived, except here in Phoenix it is still so warm that the air conditioner is still on...oh well! My car is full of damage from the hail storm that hit here earlier this week. It could have been worse....we could have had hail damage to our apartment and we didn't.

First Quarter of the new school year
I can't believe that the first quarter is over already! It certainly has been an interesting first quarter, but I have already seen the growth in my students. Students who weren't ready, can't put down, "Diary of a Young Girl."
I love it when I have to tell them to put their books away, so that they can focus on what we are doing at that moment.
With Phoenix still experiencing triple digits, I hope that when the temps cool down, the students' interest in reading won't cool off.

Summer Break is over ALREADY!
My summer is over and I am not sure when it ever started. I certainly did travel a little (emphasis on little) .... Sedona and Pinetop. I taught summer school and now I am facing the first week back to school. I wish I knew where the time went.
Well, another school year, another group of munchkins to corrupt!

Braco
I have read and seen many things about his man from Croatia Today, he is going to be in Sedona and I will be able to experience this myself. Just the idea of meeting someone from the country my grandparents came from....I was never able to visist with them because of it still being under communist rule while they were alive.

The end of another school year
Only a few more weeks and the school year will be over. It seems like the year just started. So many things have changed, so many things have happened and it seems like it all happened at lightening speed.

Prayer Works
On Friday night, I was so exhausted from a very trying week. I noticed that there was an earthquake in Japan and was a little releaved that would account for some of the things that had occurred.
On Saturday morning, my roommate told me that there had been an earthquake. Since I had seen the info about the Japapn earthquake, I commented that I knew about it. That is until I walked into the living room and saw the destruction in Chile. I didn't realize that the earthquake she was talking about was the one in Chile.
I noticed that several groups online, were beginning prayers for the people already effected by the damamge and prayers for those that were going to be in the path of the tsunami. I watched and waited, like all the rest of the world, and was so releaved when we saw very minimal damage.
I remember watching newscasters saying that some people will critize them for making this seem worse than it ended up being, but the first island hit...did have damage, so the potential for Hawaii having huge waves, etc. was very real.
Whether you agree or not, prayer worked in this case....at least that is my opinion.

A New Year
I can't believe that another year has come and gone. I have already begun to be teased by my fellow teachers as to whether I will make it through the school year without being admitted to the hospital.
In March of 2008, I was in a head on collision on my way to school. It wasn't my fault, but my car was history and my right leg was broken in six places. I had to have two surgeries, lots of physical therapy and 2 months off from work. Then in April of 2009, I had been very sick over Easter weekend. I even missed my teammate's wedding. I took myself to the ER on the Monday after Easter thinking I had the flu. Instead I found out I have overian cancer. Thank goodness that the surgery was all that I needed to have done, although the surgeon was sure that I would be having to have chemo. In the 30 years he has done this I was the second case that was the type I had that didn't require chemo.
I feel so much more healthy than I have in years(I probably had the cancer when I had the accident)amd I am looking forward to a new grandchild in July. I know that I am blessed.
